JOB DESCRIPTION:

In cooperation with nurse educators, these individuals will team up to supervise groups of up to ten students during clinical patient care training at a local healthcare facility and to perform other job-related duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  1. Must present transcripts of highest level of education.
  2. Obtain and provide CTE Conditional certification to start the job.
  3. Must provide own transportation to various locations. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
  4. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  5. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.
  6. Must pass a background check, which includes fingerprinting.
  7. Must hold current, unencumbered Washington State nursing license: RN required. Copy of license must be provided.
  8. One year of experience, within the last 3 years, must be documented working with the elderly, medically fragile, or chronically ill of any age documented on a resume.
  9. Must be willing to update skills and procedures to those currently dictated by the Washington codes directing Nursing Assistant Certification Program.
  10. Must meet all health care facility employee health requirements.
  11. Must be currently certified in CPR/First Aid and have a current TB test.
  12. Be approved by Program Certifying agency which includes a background check.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  1. Must uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures.
  2. Must take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  3. Must attend in-service trainings or other meetings as required, as well as attend any training as directed by management.
  4. Evidence of ability to assess and correct issues involving safety.
  5. Evidence of ability to establish and maintain a tactful, cooperative and effective relationship with students, parents, staff, fellow employees and management.
  6. Evidence of ability to approach assigned work in a professional manner, working toward the common goal of teamwork, pride in service delivery and continuous improvement
  7. Must demonstrate sufficient command of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing with students, parents, district staff members and other concerned people regarding all aspects of their job related activities.
  8. Must be able to use basic computer programs to maintain records, enter timecard information and read and respond to email.
  9. Evidence of positive recommendations and performance evaluations; excellent communication skills.
  10. Evidence of excellent attendance, punctuality, dependability; evidence of ability to be self-starter and self-disciplined.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  1. Previous mentoring or proctoring experience helpful but not required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. In cooperation with nurse educators, these individuals will team up to supervise groups of up to ten students during clinical patient care training at local health care facilities. They will observe and enforce facility policies at all times.
  2. Assist the nurse educators in the clinical rotation and the classroom skills lab.
  3. Work with nurse educators in the planning and tracking of students in their clinical rotation.
  4. Report student observations, promptly bringing any significant issues to the attention of the nurse educators.
  5. Maintain complete and legible records of evaluation/observation of each student throughout the clinical internship.
  6. Assist in the supervision and control of students in order to promote a safe, orderly and positive learning environment.
  7. Perform all duties in the position within the scope of the Moses Lake School District policies and procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.
  8. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the nurse educators.
