PARAEDUCATOR II
Knolls Vista Elementary School
6.5 hrs per day/180 days per year

Salary range per PSE Contract
PARAEDUCATOR GROUP II. Assists in providing instruction to and supervision of students in a variety of instructional and non-instructional programs. Performs routine clerical and office tasks in support of teachers and other district staff. Individuals hired for this position may be working with all students and special programs such as Title 1, Enhancement and Special Education.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 72 college quarter credits from a nationally accredited institution or pass ETS test required.
- Experience working with children with various abilities and age levels in an educational setting.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with district staff, students, parents and the general public using tact, courtesy, and good judgment.
- Must have the ability to relate in a positive and proactive manner with supervisory staff, classroom teachers, parents, and students. Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with elementary students in a tutoring situation.
- Successful experience working with students with disabilities.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain first aid card and specialized training as needed.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to work independently and solve problems with a minimum of supervision.
- Proven ability to be flexible and adaptable with students and staff.
- Ability to work with bicultural and at-risk students.
- Must have the ability to apply appropriate discipline according to district procedures.
- Must be able to work effectively with small groups or individual students under the supervision of certified staff.
- Willingness to obtain a current First Aid Card and CPI training.
- Must have excellent attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
