POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Substitute Principal to provide leadership and support in the absence of the regular school principal. The Substitute Principal will be responsible for maintaining a safe and productive learning environment, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring the continuity of educational programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
  • Valid Washington State principal certification.
  • Previous experience in educational leadership, preferably as a principal or assistant principal.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of educational best practices and curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with state and federal education laws and regulations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Leadership and Decision-Making:
    • Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the regular school principal.
    • Make decisions related to school operations, staff management, and student welfare in accordance with school and district policies.
  • Staff Supervision and Support:
    • Supervise teaching and administrative staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
    • Conduct staff meetings and communicate important information.
    • Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure effective classroom management and instruction.
  • Student Welfare:
    • Promote a safe and inclusive school environment where all students can thrive.
    • Address student behavior issues in accordance with discipline policies and laws.
    • Monitor attendance and ensure timely reporting of absences.
  • Curriculum and Instruction:
    • Oversee the implementation of the school's curriculum in line with district standards.
    • Ensure that instructional goals are met and provide instructional support to teachers.
  • Parent and Community Engagement:
    • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and school activities.
    • Foster positive relationships with the community and address any concerns or inquiries.
  • Budget and Resources:
    • Manage school resources efficiently in alignment with the budget.
    • Ensure the availability of necessary materials and supplies for teaching and learning.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Respond to emergency situations and ensure the safety of students and staff.
    • Follow established emergency procedures and protocols.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records related to school operations, including attendance, budget, and staff evaluations.
    • Generate reports as required by the school district.
